31174 was an elevator located in the Providence-class dreadnought Invisible Hand. It was used by Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi when they tried to rescue Chancellor Sheev Palpatine from the Invisible Hand. While inside, they had some trouble with moving the elevator, and subsequently destroyed several OOM security battle droids.
The elevator was a large, grey elevator with a large interior more than capable of accommodating 10 people. There were ten lights on the inside: three on each non-door wall and one large light on the ceiling. The same type of ceiling light was on the top and bottom of the elevator's exterior.
31174 was the middle elevator of its group of five sharing the same shaft. It was secured to the shaft by two railings that ran along the left and right sides of the elevator.
While the two were heading to the top of the tower, the lift was unexpectedly shut down. Using his comlink, Obi-Wan told R2-D2 to fix the problem, but Anakin instead impatiently cut a hole in the roof of the lift. Meanwhile, R2-D2 managed to reactivate it, first sending it down and forcing Anakin to hang onto a ledge, but then correcting its direction to up at the urgent request of Kenobi. Two security battle droids held Anakin at gunpoint, but the Jedi leaped onto 31174 as it ascended by, and the droids were destroyed. The elevator itself was lost when the second half of the Invisible Hand broke in two above the planet Coruscant.
