The All Terrain Armored Transport, better known as the AT-AT Walker, was a four-legged walker used by the Imperial Army.
Description[]
The AT-AT was a combat walker armed with four laser cannons and heavy armor that also functioned as a troop transport. It was 22.5 meters tall and its size was often used by the Empire as a psychological weapon, as well as a powerful combat walker.
History[]
These walkers were developed from the smaller, tank-like All Terrain Tactical Enforcers used by the Grand Army of the Republic in the Clone Wars. They were also a refined version of the initial AT-AT, which was an Imperial walker model used several years before the Battle of Yavin.
At least four distinct designs were used by the Galactic Empire. They were in turn predecessors of the four-legged Base Defense Walker used by the First Order.
For airborne deployments, the AT-AT was carried onto the battlefield by Gozanti-class Cruisers. At the Battle of Hoth, each walker was dropped onto the ice planet's surface by a single Gozanti.
