The assassination attempt on Senator Padmé Amidala was an event that took place during the Clone Wars, in the years following the Battle of Naboo. It was set up by the leaders of the Trade Federation, who wanted revenge on Amidala, as she was the one who crippled the Federation. Federation leader, Nute Gunray, hired bounty hunters Jango Fett and Zam Wesel to assassinate the Senator with some help from the slowly forming Separatist Alliance. The attempts were later stopped with the help of the Jedi Order.
