Bantha Riders were units of Rebel trooper that were used by the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War that rode tamed Banthas in battle. Several of these troopers were used during the Tatooine campaign, similar to the Empire, which used native Dewbacks in their military during the campaign.
