During the Clone Wars, a Maxillipede Shuttle was captured by the Galactic Republic and used to carry out a covert mission. It was crewed by D-Squad, who, using the shuttle went to a Providence-class dreadnought to steal an important module. After they stole it, and departed, the ship was damaged in a comet storm above Abafar. They crashed on the planet after failing to reboot the systems. The squad left the destroyed ship, hoping to find some means of rescue.
