Derek Klivian or "Hobbie" was a male human who served as a cadet at Skystrike Academy learning to become a TIE pilot for the Galactic Empire before he defected with Wedge Antilles and Rake Gahree.

Wedge and Hobbie escaped with the help of Sabine Wren from the rebellion and they became pilots in Phoenix Squadron. Hobbie was part of Red Squadron during the Battle of Scarif although he was on standby. Hobbie later became a key pilot in Rogue Squadron of the Alliance to Restore the Republic and fought during the Battle of Hoth.
