Escape pod

Escape Pods, sometimes also referred to as Life Pods, were small vehicles that were utilized on large starships as a means of escape in the event of an emergency. They were used by practically every faction that used large starships in their naval fleets and were usually only used when the ship they were on was being destroyed or boarded by enemy forces. They were designed to be somewhat hallow, but still could withstand the vacuum of deep space and had small engines that could be used to drive the pod for sometime, that is until the power ran out. Along with engines, some escape pods were outfitted with hyperdrives, though this was rarely seen.
