Gial Ackbar was a Male Mon Calamari from Mon Cala.
Biography[]
Ackbar served as captain of the Mon Calamari Guard during the Clone Wars under King Yos Kolina and then Prince Lee-Char. He became a rebel sometime around the time of the Battle of Yavin and served them alongside his people. He became an Admiral and commanded the flagship Home 1 during the Battle of Endor as the rebel flagship leader.
He continued to serve as Grand Admiral for the New Republic after the Battle of Endor. He retired some time after the Battle of Akiva and settled down peacefully on Mon Cala. He was "Coaxed" out of his peacful retirement when Leia Organa formed the Resistance and was a grand admiral during the Battle of Starkiller Base.
During the Evacuation of D'Qar, Ackbar served on the bridge of the Raddus but was killed along with the rest of Resistance leadership apart from Leia Organa.

Trivia[]
- Ackbar's line in Return of the Jedi "It's a Trap!" has become one of the most famous Star Wars one-liners of all time and even people who haven't seen the movie know of it.
- The line was similarly inserted into the Clone Wars TV show where Ackbar says "It's an Attack!"
- Ackbar was originally going to be part of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story but the Mon Calamari lead role was Admiral Raddus instead.
Behind the Scenes[]
Gial Ackbar was puppeted by Tim Rose and voiced by Erik Bauersfeld in The Return of the Jedi and they reprised the role for his short scenes in The Force Awakens and assumedly The Last Jedi as well. He was voiced by Artt Butler in Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 4.
