Hosnian Prime was a cosmopolitan planet in the Core of the galaxy.
History[]
Hosnian Prime was heavily urbanized, but parts of the cityscape was broken up by bodies of water. The cityscape included towering skyscrapers, similar to fellow Core world and former galactic capital, Coruscant. It served as the most recent host of the Senate of the New Republic, including the new Galactic Senate.
During the conflict with the First Order, General Leia Organa sent her envoy Korr Sella to Hosnian Prime to discuss what the Republic could do to help the Resistance. Hosnian Prime was destroyed by Starkiller Base soon after, as well as the whole star system, to prevent the New Republic from helping the Resistance. Sella, Chancellor Lanever Villecham and other members of the Senate witnessed the Starkiller's beam entering the system seconds before it hit the planet. Everyone present were killed in the blast as the beam burnt and broke up the planet.
