Hurst Romodi was a male human who originally served in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars, before becoming one of the first generals in the Imperial Army.
A favored officer of Emperor Palpatine, he was recalled from his retirement and assigned as an adjutant to Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin aboard the Death Star; he survived the subsequent disaster that encompassed the battle station's destruction and continued to maintain his place as a distinguished figure, though he was briefly sidelined by the newly-promoted Grand General Cassio Tagge. When the Emperor deemed the elimination of the nefarious Crimson Dawn to be of the top priority, General Romodi was attached as an aide to the Commander-in-Chief, Darth Vader, in the hunt for Lady Qi'
'ra and her associates.
Biography[]
Early life and career[]
During the Clone Wars, Hurst Romodi, hailing from Virujansi, fought for the Galactic Republic against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. At the end of the war, the battle-scarred man had earned the status of veteran officer and was made one of the first generals of the new Galactic Empire. Romodi's prowess is said to have gained him the approval of Galactic Emperor Palpatine himself.
In the aftermath of the Battle of Ogoth Tiir, he took reconstruction initiatives, which later became a subject of discussion in Colonel Julyan's Strategy and Tactics class at the Arkanis Academy. After his retirement, General Romodi was personally asked to return to the military to help in the readying of the Death Star project.
Witnessing the Death Star destroy Jedha City[]
Toward the end of the Jedha insurgency in 0 BBY, General Romodi was invited by Director Orson Krennic aboard the almost finished Death Star battle station, along with Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin and other officers, to witness the first live fire test of its superlaser, with the Holy City of Jedha as its target. After Director Krennic's leave and Governor Tarkin's assuming of overall command, Romodi remained aboard the battle station in the capacity of adjutant to the Death Star's new commander.
Battle of Scarif[]
Later, General Romodi was informed by fellow General Sotorus Ramda that the Alliance to Restore the Republic had attacked the beach planet of Scarif's base where the plans for the Death Star had been stored. He then notified Governor Tarkin of the situation, being in return ordered by his superior to inform the Emperor's Fist, Darth Vader, of the matter as well and to prepare the Death Star for a hyperspace jump. General Romodi enthusiastically told Governor Tarkin that they should first target the rebel fleet, but the latter replied that Lord Vader would handle the fleeing rebels. The general relayed his superior's instructions to the crew of the Death Star to fire when ready for battle. The station destroyed the base, impacting the planetary surface several kilometers away, though the Death Star plans were already beamed to the rebel flagship, and the Tantive IV escaped to Tatooine with the stolen plans. General Romodi feared that further leakage may have occurred during the interception, sending Governor Tarkin a high-priority communique, advising him to take immediate action to neutralize political and military opposition.
Prelude to Yavin[]
General Romodi was one of several senior officers present at a subsequent meeting in the Death Star's conference room, during which Governor Tarkin announced the dissolution of the Senate and Lord Vader assured the assembly that the stolen plans would soon be back in Imperial hands. Despite the assurances, some of General Romodi's fellow officers, among them Major General Cassio Tagge, were concerned that the Rebels may discover a weakness in the Death Star. Ultimately, General Tagge was correct about the rebel threat. Exploiting the presence of a thermal exhaust port in the superweapon's structure that had been deliberately designed by the scientist Galen Erso to be unstable, the Rebels launched a successful assault on the Death Star, resulting in its explosion and the loss of every life on board, though both Tagge and Romodi survived its destruction. General Tagge was ultimately given charge of the entire Imperial Military following his promotion to Grand General and elevation to Supreme Commander, although General Romodi was still highly favored and a recognizable figure in the Empire.
Bidding for Solo[]
At some point between 3 ABY and 4 ABY, General Romodi received an invitation from the criminal organization Crimson Dawn to an event where the captured Rebel Han Solo would be put up for auction. He subsequently attended the auction, accompanied by Administator Sly Moore and several other Imperial notables. The impatient veteran officer deemed that the smuggler belonged to the Empire and so they should seize it at once. Ultimately, the Commander-in-Chief, Darth Vader, arrived flanked by his Death Trooper guard, to everyone's surprise, and claimed Solo for himself.
Following the Emperor tasking the Commander-in-Chief with eliminatingof Crimson Dawn, General Romodi was standing by in the hangar of the Executor, awaiting the orders of Lord Vader. He would particupate in the relentless hunt for the insurrectionists as an aide to his cyborg superior, occasionally showing brief skepticism to his plans and often clashing with the Sith assassin Ochi of Bestoon over methods and beliefs.
