The IG-227 Hailfire-class droid tank or Hailfire Droid was a model of droid manufactured for the use of the InterGalactic Banking Clan. When the Clan joined the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the droids were used during the Battle of Geonosis and in some later battles of the Clone Wars.
Description[]
The IG-227 consisted of two large wheels on either side of the main fuselage. In the center of the droid were two missile launch racks and a laser cannon. Each droid tank could blow up an AT-TE walker with a single missile.
History[]
These droids were manufactured by Hoar Chall Engineering for the use of the InterGalactic Banking Clan. The Clan used them if individuals didn't pay their owed money. When the Banking Clan joined the Confederacy of Independent Systems, they were used during the Battle of Geonosis, flanked by Battle Droids. They alone destroyed many of the AT-TE walkers and Republic Gunships.
Following the end of the Clone Wars, the Alliance to Restore the Republic salvaged and used their own Hailfire Droids during the Galactic Civil War against the Galactic Empire. These modified tanks were known as Rebel Hailfire Droids.
