IG-86 sentinel droids were a series of assassin droid created by Holowan Mechanics sometime before or during the Clone Wars. They were the predecessors of the IG-88 assassin droids that were more robust and utilitarian build, while the IG-88 is more leaner design. Unlike its successor, IG-86 units were designed to function as a bodyguard, or home security system for the wealthy, but can be modified for more sinister purposes like assassination and bounty hunting. IG-86s were more intelligent and agile than standard battle droids, able to think logically and creatively. They were capable assassins working individually or in groups.
History[]
They were seen in usage by bounty hunters, criminal syndicates, and even scavengers lucky enough to come across and reprogram them, as seen with the Trandoshan, Gha Nachkt. Grakkus the Hutt used what appeared to be variants of IG-86 sentinel droids as bodyguards before the Invasion of Naboo while attending an auction in the Drazkel system in the Outer Rim. Along with this, a group of actual IG-86 droids also attended the auction lead by an IG lancer droid. Some IG-86 droids were incredibly independent, and went rogue, as seen with IG-11 and IG-90. IG-70 served Twin Horns Storage, a criminal organization led by Cikatro Vizago and IG-70's personal master, Rask Odai.
