The Inquisitorious, also known as the Imperial Inquisition or the Inquisitorius Program, was a cadre of Dark Side Adepts in service of the Sith Order, acting as special warriors operatives for the Galactic Empire. The group's members were referred to as Imperial Inquisitors, or simply Inquisitors, and had access to the Imperial Military's assets, outranking Imperial Officers due to the sensitive nature of their mission. Established by the Emperor, Darth Sidious, they were governed by the Emperor's Fist, Darth Vader, and directly led by an individual holding the title of Grand Inquisitor and his temporary stand-in, the Third Sister. The Imperial Inquisition and their Purge Trooper death squads were charged with eradicating the last of the Jedi Order, as well as advancing Project Harvester - an operation to turn Force-attuned children into minions of the Emperor.
The Inquisitors themselves were former Jedi who had fallen to the Dark Side of the Force, either having cracked due to torture or having been ensnared by compelling promises. They received training from Lord Vader himself, though they were not meant to match the Sith in power and skill. By the time of the theft of the Death Star plans, when the Jedi were considered largely extinct, the now-obsolete Inquisitorius vanished into thin air, leaving the reigning Sith Lords, Darth Sidious and Darth Vader, the only Force-wielders within the Empire.
History[]
During the early years of the Empire, Emperor Palpatine found, and trained a total of 11 Inquisitor Warriors. Their leader was the Grand Inquisitor, a former Jedi, like the rest of them. They trained in front of Darth Vader, as he would become their second in Command, only behind Palpatine himself. They group was organized to help Vader track and kill the remaining Jedi after Order 66 (aka the Great Jedi Purge).
