Jango Fett was a Mandalorian Bounty Hunter who wore Mandalorian Armor and was active during the final years of the Galactic Republic. Although Fett was an armor-wearing Mandalorian, the pacifist government of Mandalore saw him as nothing more than a common mercenary with no actual ties to the Mandalorians. Eventually, Jango was recuited by the Sith to serve as the genetic template for the clone army.
Though struck down by Mace Windu in combat during the First Battle of Geonosis, Fett's legacy would live on through his son Boba, as well as his cloned brethren, who would have a profound impact on galactic history.
Biography
Early Life
Jango Fett, a Mandalorian, was born on Concord Dawn. As an adult, Fett worked as a bounty hunter and wore Mandalorian armor. He was a Mandalorian warrior, although Jango himself was not part of an organized warrior sect, but worked alone.

Jango Fett meets with Dooku
Fett also served as the template of the Republic Clones which Dooku wanted for himself. Dooku recruited Jango on one of the moons of Bogden. Fett took one of the clones exempt from accelerated aging as his son and named him Boba Fett.
Training Boba Fett
At some point during Boba's childhood, Fett brought him along on a mission to retrieve a twi'lek girl who had run away from home with her Falleen lover Griph. They met with the bounty hunters they would be completing the mission with on the planet Telerath. The hunters were a Rodian named Neelda, a Gand named Rinn, and a Chadra-Fan named Tiver.
The mission began when they left from Telerath to Ord Mantell. On this mission, Jango explained to his son that the point of the mission was to teach him about adapting to unknown conditions, so it was to work with bounty hunters whom Boba did not know. On Ord Mantell, Jango and his team of bounty hunters cornered the Twi'lek girl and Griph to a bar, and cornered the lovers. Jango caught and stunned the girl after Boba and the others cornered the two lovers, and returned with her body to Slave I. After reuniting with the other bounty hunters, Jango and his son were betrayed by Rinn and Tiver.

Tiver threatening to kill Boba
After Tiver pinned down Boba and threatened Jango about the bounty, Jango told Tiver she could try to kill his son, because Jango was confident in Boba's skills. However, Boba had hidden a small blaster before the trip, and killed both Tiver and Rinn. Boba turned his blaster on Needla, but Needla was allowed to live as he had not opposed Jango or Boba, and not sided with Tiver and Rinn.
As the Fetts left Ord Mantell, they discussed Boba's progress, and Jango said he was proud of his son's progress.
Hired to kill a Senator

Fett subcontracted the hit on Senator Amidala to Zam Wesell, another bounty hunter.
A few days before the start of the Clone Wars, Jango Fett was hired by Count Dooku to assassinate Senator Amidala of Naboo to gain the Trade Federation to his list of organizations in his group. Jango attempted to kill senator Amidala with the assassin Zam Wesell. Jango dispatched Zam to Coruscant with a pair of Kouhuns, intending to kill Amidala in her sleep. However, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker foiled the plan, and chased Wesell throughout Coruscant before finally apprehending her. Jango, a substantial distance from them, assassinated Wesell to avoid her revealing his involvement.
Encounter with Obi-Wan Kenobi

Fett fights Kenobi
Obi-Wan Kenobi tracked him to Kamino after the Jedi was able to determine the Kaminoan origins of the saberdart used to kill Wesell. There, the two met at Fett's apartment in Tipoca City. Fett was questioned by Kenobi, who wished to know the details surrounding the creation of the clone army and Fett's knowledge of Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas. Fett only told Kenobi that he never heard of anyone named Sifo-Dyas, and that he was recruited by someone called Tyranus. After Kenobi left, Fett told Boba they were leaving. Obi-Wan later returned to Kamino and dueled Fett. Later, Kenobi followed Fett to Geonosis, where they engaged in a brief dogfight, before Fett headed to the surface. Kenobi followed, but was later captured.
Death on Geonosis

Jango's death
After Kenobi's capture, Jango was responsible for catching Padme Amidala and Anakin Skywalker when they came looking for Obi-Wan. During the Battle of Geonosis, Fett acted as Dooku's bodyguard. He almost effortlessly killed Coleman Trebor, then fought Mace Windu in the arena below. After being trampled by a reek and subsequently shooting it dead, Fett tried to escape using his jetpack, unaware of its malfunction caused by the trampling reek. He was then beheaded by Windu.
Legacy

Jango Fett's damaged helmet after Boba used it to conceal a bomb
Jango left behind Boba Fett, who went on to become a feared bounty hunter like his father. During Obi-Wan's visit to the planet Mandalore, he and Prime Minister Almec had a short talk about the late Jango Fett. The Prime Minister declared that the bounty hunter was not a Mandalorian, despite the armor he wore.
Inspired by Jango's death, Boba Fett initially pursued a vendetta for revenge against Windu. He ultimately sabotaged the Venator-class Star Destroyer Endurance by disguising himself as a clone cadet and infiltrating the crew. The Endurance crashed onto Vanqor thanks to Fett's sabotage. With help of Aurra Sing, Castas, and Bossk, Boba hid a bomb in his father's helmet, and hoped when Windu came into the Endurance, he would be killed by the bomb. However, it was unsuccessful, and Jango Fett's helmet was blown apart, with half of it incinerated by the explosion.
Jango Fett's legacy lived on in not only his son, but also the Clone Troopers, since they were genetic clones of the famed bounty hunter. The clones would go on to execute Order 66, and would eventually serve the Galactic Empire, the Republic's successor, as Imperial Stormtroopers.
Behind the scenes
Jango Fett first appeared in the 2002 film Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, where he was portrayed by Temuera Morrison. Early concept art for Fett had his armor originally colored white like the Clone Troopers, but was changed to blue at the end. In Star Wars Legends, Jango was a Mandalorian. However, Dave Filoni, director of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, explained that, according to George Lucas, the Fetts were not Mandalorians. Pablo Hidalgo later confirmed after the establishment of the new Star Wars canon that the Fetts are not Mandalorians, though they might claim to be. Jango was finally confirmed to be Mandalorian in "Chapter 14: The Tragedy", which establishes him as a Mandalorian foundling.
