The Journeyman Protectors or the Mandalorian Royal Guard were a group of Mandalorian warriors.

History

The Journeyman Protectors served the leader of Mandalorian society since ancient times. During the Clone Wars, Journeyman Protector pilots trained the pilots of the Galactic Republic's Clone army. They also fought on the Republic's side, for instance in the Third Battle of Mygeeto. The protectors themselves, or Mandalorian Royal Guards, served Duchess Satine during the war.

During the Empire's reign, the Journeyman Protectors were based off of the Mandalorian colony of Concord Dawn, having an airbase on its third moon. The Protectors wore light armour and flew Fang Fighters. At one point a few years before the Battle of Yavin, they fought Hera Syndulla and Phoenix Squadron in space.

Later, their leader was challenged by Sabine Wren to Single Combat. During the duel, Sabine and her fellow Rebel, Kanan Jarrus, managed to destroy many of the Journeyman Protectors's fighters, as well as capturing Fenn Rau himself. Rau agreed to let the Rebel's Phoenix Squadron pass their system, unobstructed, and ordered his troops to not tell the Empire of their secret route.
