Maul traveled to the Drazkel system with a crew of Bounty Hunters in an attempt to test his skills against Eldra Kaitis, a Jedi padawan which had been captured and held by Xev Xrexus. She was to be auctioned off to the highest bidder and was won by Jee Kra the Moogan. Maul and his hunters killed the Moogans and took the Jedi padawan for themselves. However, they were disabled and crash landed on the moon of Drazkel when they attempted to escape.
