Mitth'raw'nuruodo, often shortened to Thrawn, was an Admiral and then later the only Grand Admiral in the Imperial Navy. He was a male member of the Chiss species and was the only non-human member of the navy known to exist. His well known battle tactics were based on knowing the enemies culture and understanding them.

Biography[]

In time he became captain and later commander of the Seventh Fleet and was given the title of Grand Admiral from Emperor Palpatine himself and met Lord Vader. The two men admired each other at first glance, but this bond would not last long as they would soon begin to hold a grudge against each other due to their different military methods. He would later be assigned to aid in the destruction of the early rebellion in the years before the Galactic Civil War, fighting the rebels on planets such as Ryloth. He later led an assault on the planet of Atollon where he destroyed all most all the rebels there but ultimately failed . After that, Thrawn and Vader were summoned by the Emperor at his palace on Coruscant. The two were informed of a disturbance the Sith Lord had sent in the Force and after he finished, he ordered them both to find out by what is this disturbance caused. Later on, Thrawn would become interested in Tiber Saxon's project, one that could disentigrate the armor on the Mandalorian that gave their full support to the growing Rebel Alliance. When Saxon showed him the effects of the machine, the Grand Admiral remained unimpressed and told Saxon that to perfect the weapon, they needed it's creator: rebel agent Sabine Wren. Thrawn continued with his TIE/D Defender project and eventually he managed to produce several of these ships for the Imperial Navy. He then proceeded to work on an even better starfighter named TIE/D Defender Elite. He asked the assistance of Grand Moff Tarkin in funding the manufacturing of the new prototype craft, only for for Tarkin to tell him that he has already been persuaded to support Orson Krennic's own project: Stardust. Still the Governor told the Grand Admiral that he could still ask the Emperor himself on Coruscant. Thrawn ended the transmission there and left aboard his flagship the Chimaera, leaving his personal bodyguard, the Noghri assassin Rukh, and Governor Arihnda Pryce in charge. Thrawn would later return during the Battle of Lothal and would order the Chimaera to fire on the capital city. He offered to stop firing if the rebel Jedi Knight Ezra Bridger would surrender himself over to him. Bridger arrived aboard the Grand Admiral's Star Destroyer and would be taken to a room where the hologram of the Emperor would await them. Thrawn would let the Jedi with Palpatine while he returned to the bridge. After Ezra escaped the evil clutches of the Sith Lord, he ran towards the bridge and defeated the Imperial troops that attempted to block his path. Out of nowhere, as Ezra had planned several Purrgil came out od hyperspace and attacked the fleet. One of them broke the window glass of the Chimaera, while Thrawn shot Bridger in an attempt to kill him. While he struggled to reach his blaster pistol again, the same purrgil grabbed Thrawn with it's tentacles and left with the Imperial I-class Star Destroyer into hyperspace.
