The patrol transport was an airspeeder used by the Galactic Republic and later, the Galactic Empire.
Description[]
The airspeeder was powered by four solar-gathering panels, similar to the later TIE/LN starfighter and it had a hold for soldiers that opened to each side, like on the LAAT and IDT gunships. The patrol transport was armed with two laser cannons flanking the cockpit and a single rearward laser cannon.
History[]
The patrol transport first served as a law-enforcement transport on Coruscant during the Clone Wars. It carried squads of Coruscant Guards in pursuit of the fugitive Jedi Ahsoka Tano.
Following the end of the Wars, the Galactic Empire used these vehicles as patrol vessels on Imperial worlds. Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin used two patrol transports to destroy a communications tower on Lothal when it was hijacked by rebels and used to spread propaganda.
The transports were also carried aboard Imperial I-class Star Destroyers.
