Quasar-fire-class

The Quasar Fire-Class Cruiser-Carrier, also known as an Imperial light carrier, was a type of warship used by the Galactic Empire.

History[]

The carrier focused around carrying and supporting Imperial TIE Bomber squadrons, acting as a mobile base. The Quasar Fire-class was used by the Empire in orbit of occupied worlds to quickly send out fighter-craft when needed.

One ship in particular was used to bomb targets on the planet Ryloth, in an effort to break the local resistance forces. The Lothal Rebels wanted to capture the ship and use it to house starfighters of Phoenix Squadron. Cham Syndulla and his rebel cell, wanting to blow up the carrier as a propaganda effort, cooperated with the Lothal rebels to gain access to the ship.

The two groups came to blows when Syndulla double-crossed the Lothal rebels and attempted to blow up the ship from the inside. Eventually, Cham and his daughter Hera managed to put aside their differences and cooperate to hijack the ship and fend off Imperial reinforcements.

To satisfy Cham's plan of getting a propaganda victory, Sabine Wren and Ezra Bridger loaded up a TIE Bomber with explosives and sent it towards the carrier's light cruiser escort. The TIE was blown up next to the cruiser, leading the ship to lose altitude and fall towards Ryloth in flames. The light carrier was then taken back to Phoenix Squadron and joined their fleet. It served as a mobile base for the squadron's A-wing interceptors, removing the need to have them latch onto corvettes from the outside.

Sabine Wren later updated the ship's look with stripes and a starbird, identifying it as a Rebellion ship and it was named Phoenix Home when Jun Sato made it his command ship. Sato sacrificed himself with the ship during the Battle of Atollon, crashing it into Admiral Konstantine's interdictor cruiser.
