The Rebel Army was the ground-based military branch of the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
History[]
This organization began life as a gathering of different rebel ground units belonging to various cells. After the Battle of Yavin, as the Galactic Civil War grew in scale, the army used a variety of vehicles and troops against the Galactic Empire. In addition to equipment built by Rebel-sympathetic companies, much of the equipment used by the Rebel army came from either the mothballed units of the Old Republic, the Confederacy or were stolen from the Empire.
Following the Battle of Endor, the Rebel army was reorganized as the New Republic army.
