Separatist Council

The Separatist Council, also known as the Executive Separatist Council, was the governing and executive branch of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. It was formed from business owners and planetary magistrates swayed towards Separatist interests.

History

The Separatist Council was created in an image of the Office of the Supreme Chancellor. Before the Confederacy was even formed, Dooku forged strong alliances with major galactic corporations including the Trade Federation, Techno Union, Corporate Alliance, Commerce Guild and the Banking Clan. Though risking losing their influence Republic-controlled star systems, becoming one of the Confederacy's founding parties offered certain privileges, such as a seat of prestige and power on the council for company owners and executives.

At the onset of the Clone Wars, the council was present at a meeting on Geonosis hosted by Dooku. Having already pledged their droid armies to their Sith Lord ally, the commerce heads gave their support to the Confederacy. Throughout the war, the organizations maintained corporate neutrality granted by the Galactic Senate and continued to conduct business with the Galactic Republic, while backing the Separatist militarization effort.

After the devastating Battle of Coruscant, the Separatist Council was placed by Lord Darth Sidious under General Grievous's protection. At their Sith benefactor's behest, most of the leadership left the sinkhole planet of Utapau for the volcanic mining world of Mustafar. Seemingly safe in the confines of a facility, they were brutally disposed of by Lord Darth Vader.

Behind the Scenes

In Revenge of the Sith, an unidentified Separatist is seated next to Tikkes on Utapau. Without any speaking lines or focus on the character, however, it is not clear if this Separatist was part of the Separatist Council or merely an aide.
