The Supreme Leader was a title bestowed upon the ruler of the First Order, the hermit state rose to vie for supremacy over the entire galaxy. It was the highest office of power, a militaristic equivalent of the old Galactic Emperor position, reflecting the First Order's revealed iron fist as opposed to one covered up by propagandistic facades.
History[]
It was the enigmatic Snoke, a being whose origins were clouded in mystery, that became the first Supreme Leader, in spite of popular beliefs that either Grand Admiral Rae Sloane or General Brendol Hux would be at the helm of the First Order. Through his singular vision was the one that guided the military junta's every move, Snoke preferred to mostly stay at a distance from the theatre of war, leaving his apprentice, Kylo Ren, and General Armitage Hux - Brendol's illegitimate son - to command the military. Snoke held the position of Supreme Leader until the Showdown on the Supremacy, during which he was assassinated by Ren.
Usurping Snoke, Kylo Ren took the mantle of Supreme Leader, taking a more direct approach to overseeing the First Order's efforts against the Resistance. Ren made it clear that any attempt on a galactic citizen's part to assist the 'rebels' would be punishable by death, a statement he brutally reinforced by making examples. Kylo Ren kept the title until his redemption to the Light, after which command of the First Order was assumed by Allegiant General Enric Pryde. The latter threw in his support behind the returned Darth Sidious - the true mastermind behind the First Order - shortly before the Battle of Exegol, during which both perished.
