The TIE/D Defender was an Imperial starfighter model.
Description[]
This TIE model had three curved solar panel arrays that encompassed the cockpit. It was armed with laser cannons and missiles.
History[]
Designed by Thrawn[]
Grand Admiral Thrawn was in charge of producing these fighters during the Rebellion against the Galactic Empire and C1-10P uploaded the plans to himself before escaping the factory on Lothal. The information for the defender found it's way into the hands of the rebellion.
First Action[]
The Defender first saw action against the early Rebellion was in a skirmish with members of the Ghost Crew and Gold Squadron, in which a single TIE/D Defender was piloted by Commander Vult Skerris and used it to destroy several rebel Y-wing bombers in an attempt to try and capture the rogue Imperial Senator Mon Mothma. The attempt failed, but Commander Vult's TIE Defender survived the attack.
Galactic Civil War[]
The Defender was used against Rebel starfighters during the Galactic Civil War. It first saw action around the time of the Battle of Yavin, and would continue to be used by the Empire to combat the Alliance to Restore the Republic in various battles, such as the Tatooine Campaign.
