TIE boarding craft-TFOWM

The TIE/br boarding shuttle, also known as the TIE Boarding Craft, was a model of Imperial boarding craft. After its creation, the TIE boarding craft was readily adopted by the Commission for the Preservation of the New Order's Imperial Office of Customs.

Description[]

The TIE/br was similar in appearance to the TIE bomber. The twin-hulled transport was used to carry Imperial troops. It was specialized for breaching enemy vessels and depositing boarding parties into the target ship.

History[]

This kind of boarding craft were carried onboard Imperial I-class Star Destroyers, including Darth Vader's ship, the Devastator. Two Imperial boarding craft accompanied Vader's shuttle to board the disabled cruiser Profundity at the close of the Battle of Scarif.

Boarding craft interior

Stormtroopers emerge from the opening of a TIE boarding craft into the Tantive IV.

Shortly after, another boarding craft was used by Vader and his Stormtroopers to board the corvette Tantive IV over Tatooine.

Behind the Scenes[]

Concept art for the exterior TIE boarding craft model was made during pre-production of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, but never made it into the film itself. Only an interior set was built, the corridor from which Stormtroopers and Darth Vader appear in the opening battle. The exterior design was recycled for the TIE bomber and partially for Needa's shuttle in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. The boarding craft itself was finally seen in full as a CGI model in the first spin-off film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
