The TIE/sk x1 experimental air superiority fighter, also known as TIE/SK fighter or the TIE striker, was a variant of the TIE/LN fighter used by the Galactic Empire during the early Galactic Civil War. It was an experimental design manufactured and tested on Scarif to decide wether it was to by made for more widespread use. They participated in the Battle on Scarif against the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
Description[]
The striker was a more streamlined version of the TIE/ln starfighter. It was armed with four laser cannons, two below the main cockpit. The striker was designed for improved atmospheric flight so as to protect ground-based installations better. In addition, the striker could also fly in space.
History[]
The designers at the Scarif Military facility designed the fighter for use within the atmosphere and tested it on the planet. Due to the model's testing, the fighters were on the planet during the Battle on Scarif and were used against the Alliance to Restore the Republic. The Striker was in widespread use by the time of the Battle of Jakku. One model of TIE Striker was seen in a abandoned Imperial weapons factory sometime after the end of the Galactic Civil War.
