The UT-60D U-wing starfighter/support craft or U-wing was a model of starfighter utilized by the Alliance to Restore the Republic and then later the New Republic.
Description[]
Similar to the Republic-era LAAT, the U-wing was a troop transport and gunship. It carried squads to the battlefield and provided fire support for them when in battle.
History[]
A gunship of this kind was used to ferry Rebel troops during the mission to steal the Death Star plans. The Rebel Massassi Base on Yavin 4 had a separate hangar with a lift created to house these transports. Many were used during the Battle of Scarif where they launched an assault on the shield gate.
U-wings were utilised during the Battle of Jakku before the New Republic victory.
