Wampas were a species of large, non-sentient, carnivores that inhabited the ice planet of Hoth.
History[]
Wampas mainly hunted Tauntauns, and during the Galactic Civil War, when the rebels set up a secret base on the planet, there were several occasions where wampas entered the rebel base and became a large pest to the rebels.
At some point before the Battle of Hoth, a single wampa managed to somehow overpower and capture Wookie warrior and ally to the Rebel Alliance, Chewbacca, but was defeated with the aid of Princess Leia Organa and R2-D2. Some time after this event, just before the Battle of Hoth, another wampa managed to capture Rebel Jedi Luke Skywalker, but as a result, the wampa got it's arm cut off by Luke, who used his lightsaber to do so, as he attempted to escape the wampa's cave.
