The Y-85 Titan dropship was a military transport used by the Galactic Empire.
Description[]
The Titan was produced by the Incom Corporation. It featured a boxy design, similar to the smaller Theta-class barge. The Y-85 could carry four AT-ATs and four AT-STs. The AT-ATs were lowered to the ground underneath the Titan by built-in cranes. The AT-STs were hoisted down from rotating racks. The Titan was defended by two twin laser cannons.
History[]
Dropships of this type were transported on-board the Executor and other large Imperial warships, being too large to fit the hangars of Star Destroyers. In the lead up to the Battle of Hoth, General Maximilian Veers declined the use of Y-85s to transport Blizzard Force to the surface of Hoth. Veers feared the danger posed by Rebel Alliance starfighters swarming the ships before they could deploy the task force. Instead, he used Gozanti-class Cruisers and Theta-class barges, which were smaller and more agile, to transport his troops and armored units down to the planet.
